The easiest and quickest vegetable to grow! Other than avoiding heavy clay or very sandy soil, radishes are not fussy. Sow early varieties in a sunny site as soon as the ground is workable in the spring – winter radishes are generally sown in mid-summer.
This spring variety has scarlet skin and crisp, white flesh. At full size, the roots are round and 3/4in / 18mm across. A very early maturing variety. Grows well in containers.

Plants are hardy and withstand mild frosts. Direct sow seed into the garden several weeks before the last spring frost date. Thin seedlings to at least 1 inch apart as crowding will affect quality. Choose a sunny location in fertile soil that drains well.
